Swooshes, screeches on the floor and dribbling echoed in the background of the Northwest Florida State College (NWF) Basketball Arena while Steve DeMeo, Head Men's Basketball Coach, Rory Kuhn, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, and Patrick Harrington, Head Women's Basketball Coach, directed NWF Raider basketball players and students from the Emerald Coast Autism Center on July 15’s mini-clinic.

Raiders from the men’s and woman’s basketball team along with NWF volunteers and personnel practiced stationary dribbling, passing and shooting baskets.

“It’s a great opportunity for our players to give back to the community,” Coach Harrington said. “They understand they have to serve as mentors and also gives us the great opportunity to teach them how fortunate they are everyday to have the opportunity to go to school at Northwest Florida State.”

Staci Berryman, executive director of Emerald Coast Autism Center, said ECAC is grateful for the unique opportunity to have its students learn basketball skills from the Raider staff and players. Today was such a wonderful experience for our kids, and it has made us even more excited about our ongoing partnership with NWFSC.
